Fall 2016 is arriving in the blink of an eye. And, with that comes a change in style and fashion, for Farmingdale’s most fabulous trend setter’s, fashionista’s, and Mom’s and Dad’s alike.
In updating one’s wardrobe basics, I like to go for classic styles, that can be tweaked and updated from year to year.
Think Of Color:
- Colors like jewel toned one’s (think merlot, emerald, wine, burgundy, amethyst, sapphire, etc) can add deep pops of color, that look rich and sumptuous. Metal hued tones like rose gold, can add a pop of metallic color to one’s wardrobe. Even a color like burnt orange spice / pumpkin or a rich Hunter green, can look inviting considering the season, yet bold.
Think Of Fabrics and Textile Design:
- Think about pairing classic fabrics or prints, with modern ones. Leather with tweed or herringbone. Classic prints like plaid, pin stripes, and color blocking, etc are great for Fall. Think of velvet (maybe as a trim, with a burnout technique) or fur in small doses (faux fur can be just as amazing).
Think of Accessories:
- A great pair of boots (booties, knee high boots, wedges, etc), a great coat, a cool jacket (think a moto style), or a classic cape or poncho can add a lux, modern, sexy, or edgy style to a look, that is other wise a classic one. A power bag in a clean, yet classic and structured silhouette and neutral color, will go with everything, make you look instantly pulled together, and as an added bonus will have enough space to carry all of your essentials. Patterned tights in natural colors, well – made leggings (etc), amongst other basic items, are also great to keep in stock. Also, think of a great piece of statement jewelry, like a bib necklace, earrings, or chunky ring.
Think Of Blending Styles:
- Think of mixing styles, like adding men’s wear inspired pieces to an ultra feminine look. Mix 90’s retro style, with the current look of today’s millennials. Vintage high society style, with today’s edgy looks, 70’s chic meets today’s urban cool.
