I always try to keep in mind, when shopping to incorporate pieces into my wardrobe, that will become staples and can be used in multi – purpose ways, with a few clever adjustments.
By remembering this mantra, one can take their wardrobe farther and make it last longer and also add a creative spin or flair to things, that seem to be common or ordinary.
Use infinity or longer scarfs in different way: Besides being an ordinary scarf, infinity scarfs can be used in a multitude of ways. They can make interesting head wraps, shawls, add punch to a bag, when tied to it, or even be twisted or tied to make a belt. Think knitted fabrics for fall and winter & lighter fabrics like chiffon, silk, or pashmina for spring & summer.
Use tank tops as layering pieces: One can use a basic tank top in neutral colors and soft cottony fabrics as a layering piece, under one’s favorite tops or blouses or even under a maxi dress, to add more coverage in the bust area. Dressier tank tops can be added under dressy blouses, etc to add interesting detail.
Long cotton maxi skirts are cool enough to wear in the summer and beat the heat and can be worn in many ways, as skirt for a casual summer outfit, over a body suit or bathing suit to provide added coverage, etc. Dressier long maxi skirts, with subtle details like applique, etc can be paired with the appropriate top and accessories for a simple, yet refined evening look.
Slightly sheer, longer tunics with a fun pattern / summery colors or slightly adorned with beaded detail, can work as bathing suit cover ups or when layered over a dressy tank, can be used as chic resort wear, whilst paired with nice pants and the right shoes and accessories.
Blazers in a variety of fabrics based on the season and neutral colors, can be paired over a long sleeveless or short sleeved maxi dress, a jumper or romper set, or even a basic crewneck tee and skinny jeans, to add a little refinement to the above outfits.
